A standards-based GPS simulator for Android.

Standard GPS writes mock coordinates through Android's official location API — that's the whole job. It runs at the system level, never attaches to other apps, and varies your walking speed the way a real person would so the simulated movement reads as natural.

Features

Stays out of other apps

Standard GPS only writes coordinates to the Android system's location provider — that's the entire surface area. It doesn't attach to, read from, or modify any other app on your device. Anything that needs a location reading just gets what the OS reports, exactly the way Google designed it.

Walks like a person

Real people don't move at a perfectly constant speed — stride, terrain, and attention all introduce small variations. When you run a saved route, Standard GPS varies your speed by ±15% around the value you set, so the coordinate stream looks the way a person walks rather than a metronome.

Won't drop back to real GPS

Even if the app is killed or the phone reboots, the last simulated position is kept. Real GPS only returns when you tap Stop simulation.

Stable when the screen is off

A short wakeup burst on screen-on and a 2-second heartbeat keep the mock active when Android tries to put the app to sleep.

Floating joystick

System overlay with a directional pad. Move around without reopening Standard GPS — the overlay sits on top of whatever you have on screen.

Three path modes

Loop, reverse, one-shot. Drag to reorder waypoints, set stay seconds per point, change speed while walking (1–130 km/h).

Cooldown calculator

Built-in 11-step distance-to-wait reference for large location jumps. A countdown chip in the header tracks the remaining time, and a snackbar after each jump tells you when the next destination is ready.

Quick Settings tile

Stop the simulation from the notification shade. Progress (3/10) shows in the tile subtitle.

Works offline

osmdroid tiles can be cached. No cloud account, no analytics, no telemetry. Routes stay on the device.

5 languages

English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean. Switch from Settings without restart.

FAQ

Does it need root?
No. Standard GPS uses Android Developer Options, "Select mock location app". Works on any Android 8.0+ device.
Can third-party apps tell that the location is simulated?
Yes. Android exposes a standard flag (Location.isFromMockProvider) that any app can check to see whether the current reading is coming from a mock provider rather than the GPS hardware. Standard GPS doesn't hide that flag — it's the documented Android behavior. Apps that don't read it simply receive the simulated coordinates as a normal location reading. Always use the app within the terms of service of any third-party app you connect to.
How is Standard GPS different from other location-simulation tools?
Most location tools you'll come across either attach directly to a specific third-party app's process, or run from a separate computer over a wired connection. Standard GPS uses Android's official mock location API — the same one Google documents for developers testing GPS-dependent features. You install it like any other app, enable it under Developer Options → Select mock location app, and that's it. Every action is manual: tap to set a destination, run a saved route, or steer with the floating joystick. No third-party processes touched, no external hardware required.
Why does it ask for both location and mock-location permissions?
Location: to read the real GPS once as the initial map center and to detect the real position after Stop simulation. Mock location: to write the simulated coordinates back to the system. Android requires both.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Google Play, Subscriptions, Standard GPS, Cancel. Pro features remain until the current period ends.
Why is Lifetime more expensive than Yearly?
Lifetime is a one-time payment for permanent access — you never pay again, no matter how long you keep using the app. The price equals roughly 20 months of Pro Monthly, so if you plan to use Standard GPS for more than 2 years, Lifetime saves you money. It's also for users who simply don't want subscription renewals on their account. Lifetime customers get all future Pro features included for life, at no additional charge.
Does it work offline?
Yes, as long as the map tiles are cached. The simulation engine itself is fully offline.
Why are there ads on the free version?
Ads pay for the free tier. Watching one rewarded ad gives 2 stars; you can spend stars on extra runs once the daily free quota is used up. Pro removes all ads.
Does Standard GPS make my movement look more natural?
When you run a saved route, the route engine varies your speed by ±15% around the value you set. Real people don't walk at exactly 4.5 km/h for ten minutes straight — stride, terrain, and attention always introduce small accelerations and decelerations. The route engine does this automatically; there's nothing to enable. Stops behave the opposite way. When a waypoint has a stay-duration, the position holds completely still for that exact time, matching what a person does when they wait somewhere on purpose. This runs in the background — no toggle, no separate settings page. It's just the route engine's default behavior.
