Privacy Policy

Standard GPS is published by an independent developer. Routes, bookmarks, and settings stay on the device. There is no server, no account, and no location upload. The only third parties involved are Google AdMob (ads, free tier only) and OpenStreetMap Nominatim (address search), each used only when that feature is opened.
The sections below explain which Android permissions the app uses, what is stored locally, and what the two third parties do when they are involved.
What the app accesses
Standard GPS uses the following Android permissions:
- Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION): to read your real GPS once at startup (initial map center) and to detect when you manually stop simulating. Real location data never leaves your device.
- Mock location (ACCESS_MOCK_LOCATION): to write the simulated coordinates back into Android's LocationManager. Required for the core feature.
- Overlay window (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW): to display the floating joystick overlay over other apps.
- Foreground service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_LOCATION): to keep the simulation engine alive while the screen is off (a foreground notification is shown to comply with Android requirements).
- Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): to show the persistent simulation notification on Android 13+.
- Internet (INTERNET): for Nominatim address search and Google AdMob ad serving. The simulation engine itself works fully offline.
Data stored on your device
The app stores routes, saved bookmarks, recent destinations, language preference, simulation state, and a trusted-clock anchor used to keep the daily free-quota count accurate even if the device clock is changed — all in local SQLite (Room) and DataStore. None of this is uploaded to any server.
Third-party services
- Google AdMob (free tier only): serves interstitial and rewarded ads. AdMob may collect device identifiers (Advertising ID), IP address, ad-interaction events, and approximate location for ad personalization. AdMob's own privacy policy applies. Pro subscribers see no ads and AdMob is not loaded.
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim (search feature): when you type a place name, the query string is sent to nominatim.openstreetmap.org. They log the IP and query per their usage policy. We don't proxy or store these queries.
- SNTP time servers (trusted clock for fair quota counting): the app occasionally fetches UTC time from time.google.com / time.android.com / pool.ntp.org so the daily free-quota count stays accurate even when the device clock is changed. The request contains no personal data — only an SNTP timestamp request.
Advertising & ad ID
Free-tier ads are served by Google AdMob. You can opt out of personalized ads in Google Play Services → Ads, or reset your advertising ID at any time. Upgrading to Pro removes all ads.
Children
Standard GPS is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Because we do not maintain a server-side database of users, there is no remote profile to access, correct, or delete. You can erase all local data by uninstalling the app or using Settings → Reset all settings.
Changes to this policy
We will post the new policy here with an updated date. Material changes will be flagged inside the app on the next launch.
